Comparison of Existing and Restored
Restored Scheme in Context
The Boat Store
Carmarthen

The South Quay in Pembroke is adjacent to the non-tidal south pond, surviving historic burgage plots separating it from existing commercial properties on the high street above. All are dominated by the adjacent castle. In 1993 DSA submitted the winning entry for Pembrokeshire County Council's open competition for ideas that would increase commercial use of the South Quay, our developed design ultimately being presented to the Royal Fine Art Commission in London.

DSA subsequently completed the conversion of the dilapidated, roofless and recently de-listed Boat Store to provide a new Watersport Centre. A new Meeting Room was provided at first floor level, large glazed openings maximising the potential of the fabulous views over the adjacent pond, and all below a new steel framed roof. An existing external stone stair was restored to provide access. The ground floor accommodated as a Store and Toilet, the adjacent quayside also being re-landscaped.
